Our traditional New Year Raceday on January 2 is one of the best days out of the year at Ayr Racecourse.Extend your Festive celebrations by enjoying seven races and great entertainment after the last race keeping your party lasting well into the evening.

The second of five January meetings and this seven race card is a perfect midweek day out with some competitive racing in prospect.

The action is under way at 12.45 pm with a maiden hurdle and throughout the afternoon leading northern trainers including Nick Alexander, Nicky Richards and Lucinda Russell will have runners and top jockeys in action should include Brian Hughes, Derek Fox, Craig Nichol and Danny Cook.

The third January fixture of 2018 is a two day affair and the opening day features six competitive races which should make for an enjoyable afternoon’s racing.

Kick off the week in style and head along to Scotland’s premier racecourse to see some leading northern horses and jockeys in action. The opening novice hurdle was won last year by the George Charlton trained Fairlee Grey ridden by Czech jockey Jan Faltejsek and this horse went on to be placed in a handicap hurdle at the Coral Scottish Grand National Festival.

The second day of our two day mid-January meeting with six races three hurdles and three chases.

The feature race is a Class 4 Novices Chase over two miles and this produced a good winner last year in the Martin Pipe trained, Tom Scudamore ridden Starchitect who ran creditably in three Class 1 contests later in the season. Will we see another real quality horse like that this afternoon ?

Some of the top riders who are likely to be in action include Brian Hughes, Will Kennedy, Derek Fox and Conor o’Farrell

JANUARY FINALE RACEDAY

The fifth and final January fixture of 2018 bringing the curtain down on what has been an extremely busy month at the track.

Scottish based trainers will have plenty of runners at this fixture with horses from the stables of Lucinda Russell, Ian Duncan, Mike Smith, Stuart Coltherd, Keith Dalgleish and Jim Goldie all likely to be taking part. End the first month of the year with a visit to Ayr Racecourse and back a few winners to boost the coffers !
