AYRSHIRE CANCER SUPPORT 6K FAMILY FUN RUN

It’s time to look out those trainers now and run for charity. You don’t have to be super fit to take part, you can walk or run. This is a great family event not to be missed, the kids can even dress up in their favourite costumes.

We listened to your feedback last year and we have changed the start time to 11am. Registration is open from 10am. Karen Murrie from GLOW Fitness will do the warm up before the race starts. Entry costs £10 Adults (includes a free ACS t/shirt), 5-16 Years £6, Under 4’s free. Family of £28 (2 adults + 2 children)

Enjoy the thrill of travelling behind one of our restored steam locomotives. Normally, we will make use of our specially converted passenger carrying brakevan to provide visitors with a short trip. However, this year, we also hope to begin to use our recently restored Directors Saloon on certain days. Visit our museum, and view the garden scale model railway in operation. We also have a tea room providing teas, coffee, soft drinks and sandwiches at reasonable prices. Our shop has many items at pocket money prices to suit our younger visitors.

DUNDONALD HIGHLAND GAMES

Dundonald Highland Games is one of Ayrshire’s premier cultural events. It is unique in capturing traditional Scottish heritage and strong community spirit within the picturesque setting of Royal Dundonald Castle. Admission to the event is completely free and offers a whole range of entertainment and activities including a traditional highland games with pipe band contest, drum majors, solo piping, highland dancing, battle re-enactment, heavy events, side stalls, massed pipe bands display and street parades.

Dundonald Games Week takes place during the week leading up to the highland games and includes a treasure hunt, 10km road race, kids’ fun run, pet show and 7-a-side football competition.

There are also travelling events such as the funfair and the circus.
